Shut Study Hall was built in 1804 to commemorate and worship the 19th generation
of the Tang clan, Tang Wan-kai. The study hall hasa dual function:
on one hand, it serves as an ancestral hall to worshipthe Tang ancestors;
on the other hand, it is used for educating their nextgeneration. It
still served as a study hall until 1938. It transformed intoa kindergarten
after the war. Sin Shut Study Hall is no longer used asa study hall
but a banquet venue occasionally. Since the study hall is notopen to the public,
we can only peek inside through the gaps of the doors. |
