Comments: The food is eaten especially for New Year's celebrations. As the dough fries, it expands. Therefore, the Chinese believe if you eat sesame balls, your fortunes will expand similarly. Many of us adore it. First, it is fried golden brown and looks attractive. Second, it is both crisp and chewy from the glutinous rice flour. We have some other variations. We also have red bean paste as the filling. When cooked with sugar, tiny red beans take on a delicious flavour.
