Festivals
are highly valued by the Chinese as they are the great times for the whole family
to get together. To celebrate these occasions, a wide range of delights is prepared.
It is not uncommon to find that these specialties are auspicious and meaning-laden.
For example, the rich savory and sweet cakes eaten at Chinese New Year symbolize
rising fortunes and their roundness is a reminder of family unity and continuity.
We will introduce ten different foods of four festivals, namely, Chinese New
Year, Mid-autumn Festival, Dragon Boat Festival and Lantern Festival.
