Chinese Concept of Death and the Afterlife

The Chinese concept of death and the afterlife is influenced by Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism. Also, there are also different customs in different places in China.

Confucians: After death, the human soul of the deceased returns to basic energies of the universe. As long as person chases a dream in his or her life, he or she would not be afraid of death.

Taoists: The Taoists believe the human soul of the deceased live on in underworlds.

Buddhists: Promote the idea of judgments and reincarnations. There are Ten Kings who make decisions on who is sent to the underworld and who is reborn in heaven.
